Rise at Seven are looking to hire a ‘sharp’ and ‘enthusiastic’ Head of Operations to join its growing team.
The UK based agency has seen huge growth already in the last four years – but as the talented team goes into its fifth year, they are looking to be more strategic in what they can offer to clients. And a big part of the exciting new plans is welcoming a Head of Operations to lead ops at the agency and work across the channels to ensure everything is moving smoothly.
Working as a part of the Senior Management Team (SMT), the ideal person for the role will be happy and capable of running weekly traffic and stand up meetings and working with a number of different delivery heads across the company. Experience and respect is key for this position, with the right candidate having at least five years, preferably in agencies, behind them and the ability to make different teams work together seamlessly.
As the team moves to looking more at what clients want, the person who is hired is going to be a huge factor in making sure that everything balances out. Rise blends creative brand performance with owned, earned and shared channels, and the head of ops needs to be able to sit in the middle and make sure that the right crafts people are thrown onto the right accounts at the right time.
Karl Loudon, Rise at Seven’s CCO, had a chat with Agency Hackers News about the big future plans at the agency and why they are looking to add to the SMT:
- “In the last six to eight months we’ve become a lot more strategic in what we’re doing for clients. So rather than being quite executional, ‘please do this, that or the other’, we’re having to do more agile cross channel planning.
- “The person that’s leading ops needs to be comfortable adjusting how we service our clients based on changing consumer behaviour – I always describe them as music producers, they can say, ‘the client needs us to lean more towards this channel over the coming quarter’. And that’s what I need, or what the business needs. This person needs to be quite comfortable working with all those different delivery heads – the head of PR, the head of SEO, and also client service and finance. They need to be able to go ‘right, this is what we’ll be doing this week, this month, this quarter'”

One of the main factors in hiring a Head of Ops is to help with Rise’s rapid growth – so being confident in traffic management is a must. They need to own the agency’s management system and pull together data for weekly traffic meetings and stand up meetings, and while not essential, a working knowledge of Mavenlink would also be beneficial for applicants.
Being wired to think about the facts and figures and understanding the diverse range of different teams will also be a skill the team are looking out for. Connecting with Rise at Seven’s values is also important.
What are these values? Sharp as a tack, enthusiastic as hell, experts in the field and proud to be us.
This role is an experience based one, rather than a qualifications based one – someone five or six years into their career. The team is hoping that someone with an operational project management background and is looking to take a step into a bigger agency will be inspired to apply.
The position is a hybrid role, with the successful person expected to be in one of the offices in Sheffield, Manchester or London twice a week.
