Notch has been strengthening its senior team over the last few months

A Manchester based communications agency has welcomed a new CEO.

Notch Communications, a strategic and creative B2B marketing agency focused on the science and technology sectors, has recently appointed Dr Kate Whelan PhD as the new CEO as part of efforts to further strengthen its operations team.

Dr Kate formerly held the role of Chief Operating Officer at Notch Communications and began her journey in marketing at kdm communications. She then rose to Account Director at Gyro, a New York-based advertising firm before founding Notch in 2011 with the vision of helping life science organisations of all sizes effectively communicate their innovations in crowded markets.

Her transition to CEO follows the appointment of Carla Knight, formerly Director of Agency Services at APS Group, as Client Services Director.

Notch has also been strengthened over recent months by two key appointments to its operations team. Liz Fitzgerald, formerly Finance Manager at BRS Ltd, joins as Finance Manager, and Suzanne Craig, formerly Office Manager and Workplace Coordinator at Teya (a FinTech Company), takes up the position of Office, Culture, and Logistics manager.

Dr Kate Whelan commented: “We’ve recently experienced phenomenal growth, more than doubling in size over the last three years, and this is a trend we intend to continue. My move to CEO, and the key appointments to the operations team, further strengthen our core value proposition and support our incredible scientists and marketers to continue delivering significant impact for clients.

“Since joining Notch last year, I’ve been impressed with the passion and unique skill sets within the agency,” Carla Knight added. “I’m looking forward to helping us continue our positive momentum, and the extra resource in the operations team will play a pivotal role in assisting these efforts.”
