The Northern PHA team will be working alongside the Liverpool Universities in this new project

The University of Liverpool has appointed a new digital agency to support the launch of a new project.

PR and digital agency The PHA Group won the brief to help the university launch its new UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) project Horizons.

Horizons is set to be a partnership between the University of Liverpool’s VEC (Virtual Engineering Centre), Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) and Edge Hill University to support business innovation across the Liverpool City Region. Delivered through the VEC, the £5.1m programme is funded by the Government through the UKSPF, and will support more than 100 SMEs in its pilot phase, providing the expertise, facilities, and funding businesses need to drive innovation.

The PHA Group’s northern team will deliver an integrated activity press office that raises awareness of the Horizons project on a regional and national level and helps businesses across the city region understand the importance of innovation.

Emma Green, Marketing and Communications Manager at the University of Liverpool, said: “Horizons is a hugely important project for the Liverpool City Region. The Government funding we’ve received will go a long way in supporting business growth and productivity over the next 18 months.

  • “The PHA Group impressed us with their regional knowledge and creative approach to tackling our brief, and we’re looking forward to seeing what we can achieve together.”

Hannah Craig, Head of PHA North, said: “Liverpool has a long history of driving innovation, and we’re proud to be supporting on a programme that will accelerate that even further.

“We’ve got exciting plans for the next 18 months which we can’t wait to bring to life.”

The University of Liverpool win follows a strong end to 2023 for The PHA Group across the north, following the announcement of its acquisition of Leeds-based agency MCG in November.
