Smoking Gun, a company that helps other businesses get noticed, has added a new person to their leadership team. Carl Stroud, who knows a lot about how newsrooms work, will be their new head of media.
Carl spent 20 years as a reporter and editor for national newspapers. This includes 10 years at The Sun, where he worked on both the physical newspaper and the website, eventually becoming the website’s editor. He has also worked as a consultant and for other PR agencies.
In his new role at Smoking Gun, Carl will help create news stories and strategies.
Carl said: “I’ve always admired the creativity and skill at Smoking Gun. Newsrooms are changing a lot right now, and I’m excited to help the team create smart and creative communication campaigns for our clients.”
Rick Guttridge, the boss at Smoking Gun, is also excited about Carl joining the team. He thinks that earning media attention is a crucial part of helping businesses improve their reputation, grow their brand, and perform better digitally. Rick said: “Carl has been at the heart of many important conversations at The Sun, and he has a great sense for creating news. This will help us make our media campaigns more memorable and effective.”
