• A lot of people think that employee benefits are the be-all and end-all when it comes to recruitment and retention.
• But actually, they’re just a small part of a much larger package.
• We’ll be joined by Alistair Dornan and Matt Frost from Gallagher Benefit Services, and they’ll be telling you exactly how to improve your agency’s people experience.
“Everybody focuses on something like employee benefits and says, ‘If I can fix them, I can fix my problems’. But it doesn’t work like that.”
When it comes to recruitment and retention, your employee experience is what’s important. And while benefits may seem to be the key to that, they’re actually just one part of a much larger package.
“It’s the whole employee offering that matters,” says Alistair Dornan, director of organisational wellbeing at Gallagher Benefit Services. “I’m in my job as I’ve got a mortgage and children, I get to do really cool stuff, and I like the kudos of the job I’ve got. Benefits are just a teeny, tiny part of that.”
“There are three big blocks of employee benefits – pension, healthcare and ‘the cool stuff’ – and relevance is really important, as is flexibility. But what’s even more important is the culture, the purpose, and the benefits together – it’s the whole proposition.”
Being able to market your culture and people experience right, and delivering on it, is proving quite difficult in the hybrid world we now work in.
“For a lot of agencies, the working environment was really important to people. It was part of the package and people could sell it. Now, we’ve had to rethink the workspace and what it means to be a part of the business,” says Alistair.
“The most important thing is how you front up your purpose in a meaningful way.”
We’ll be talking to Alistair and his colleague Matt Frost all about how to really make your people experience matter. They point to four emerging trends:
- The power of purpose
- Benefits
- Wellbeing
- Amplifying your agency’s story
This is an important chat about how to really make your employees’ experiences count – and how that can positively impact your agency’s success.
