• Break out of your cocoon and rub shoulders with other eCommerce agency owners

Join us in the fantastic Shoreditch Treehouse for an afternoon of confidential conversations with other eCommerce agency leaders – in partnership with Channable

If you run an eCommerce agency, the only people who understand the pain and thrills of your adventure… are other eCommerce agency leaders.

2023 has been a tough year for eCommerce brands – and that’s made life complicated for eCommerce agencies too.

  • Customer acquisition has felt harder, paid media isn’t going gangbusters, and email opens and clicks are dropping across the board!
  • Meanwhile, clients feel more demanding than ever – they are holding agencies’ feet to the fire like never before. They’re looking for more strategic support, but not necessarily willing to pay for it!
  • Sound familiar? You are invited to join us in London to share your journey with other eCommerce agency owners and leaders. You’ll get to talk confidentially about your business with people who know what it’s like to walk in your shoes… because they’re currently doing it.

We’re meeting up in the amazing Shoreditch Treehouse for a confidential afternoon of down-to-earth conversation and interactive presentations. You’ll hear from other agency leaders about attracting and retaining high-performing talent, solving structure and operational difficulties, finding the right balance between growth and profitability, and growing your business through sales, marketing, and reputation.

Meet people who are interested in your story

eCommerce Leaders is an afternoon that will help you get inspired, and meet other people you can learn from. We blend interactive talks and group discussions.

  • We dot you around the venue so you can interact – and we mix up the groups so you meet different people.
  • We poll you before the event to see what you want to talk about.
  • We make sure all the talks are original and interesting. We facilitate questions and reflections throughout.

Who you’ll hear from…

Mastering eCommerce Marketing in a New Era

TikTok is not just a dancing platform anymore. It’s a place where eCommerce can thrive.

That’s what Ashley Wright thinks.

Ashley is the founder of creative ad agency Smash Cactus and TikTok growth agency Social Tale. He’s had an eye on TikTok marketing since IOS 14.5 came out in 2021 – an update that changed data tracking forever.

It’s been a journey to say the least. The first hurdle was convincing clients that this was worth the investment. Now, it’s a place where brands know they have to be.

“Obviously, with TikTok shop, users can now just shop directly with the platform. So a lot of brands are now saying ‘We need to be on the platform, we need to have another channel where we’re promoting organic content, because if not we’re going to kind of get left behind’.”

👉 At eCommerce leaders, Ashley will discuss the growing impact TikTok can have for eCommerce businesses – and how you can get clients over the line. [Read more]

“How We’re Growing Our Team with an Award-Winning Culture”

It’s getting harder and harder to find genuinely good talent in eCommerce and SEO.

There’s an over-saturated job market, increasingly large knowledge gaps from graduates,  and every man and his dog has got one eye on their own side hustle.

So how can you attract good talent and convince them to stick with you?

Oliva Royce, operations director at NOVOS, reckons your employer brand is a good place to start.

NOVOS won Campaign’s ‘Best Place to Work’ award last year – as well as ‘Best Place to Work for Women’ – which Olivia cites was largely influenced by their employee-ownership journey.

“Being employee-owned is essentially creating a democracy of a company, which can steer off into so many different directions,” she says.

👉 At eCommerce Leaders, Olivia will talk us through how she is keeping her team happy and motivated, juggling an award-winning culture alongside award-winning delivery, and adapting processes in an ever-changing industry. [Read more]

How to Stay Relevant in an Ever-Changing Industry

Jon Kennett has spent the last 20 years working in eCommerce. He reckons no other industry has changed in recent years quite like this one.

“When I first started doing PPC ads, it was an untapped stream of business,” says Jon. “But everyone seems to be doing the same things now – following the same playbook.”

So how is he using his two decades’ worth of expertise to ensure his current agency, Bozboz, stays ahead of the curve?

“A lot of what we do is bespoke development. You can get some great stuff out of the box with platforms like Shopify, but we found that by building custom tools and providing users with more bespoke functionality, we’ve been able to get some really good clients over the line.”

👉 At eCommerce Leaders, Jon will give us an overview analysis of how the eCommerce industry has changed over the last twenty years, and how you can stay ahead as the market continues to saturate. [Read more]

Breaking the USA

Do UK agencies have a competitive advantage in the US?

That’s what Kevin Gibbons seems to think.

Kevin’s agency Re:signal has always had a decent profile in the States, due to thought leadership and global marketing efforts. But back in 2012, the Re:signal team caught a glimpse of what it’s really like to work in a US agency – and they promptly left.

“With regard to the standard of quality of work in the US… I actually think it’s much stronger in the UK,” claims Kevin.

“Some of the work I’ve seen, and some of the pitches we’ve been up against, it feels like they’re charging a lot of money but still aren’t as ROI-focused. They don’t feel that strong in terms of techniques and strategies.”

👉 At eCommerce Leaders,  Kevin will give us a candid portrayal of what it’s like to do business in the US. He’ll also be dishing the dirt on how you can grow your agency’s presence in the States, and the things he wished he’d known the first time around. [Read more]

Q: What actually happens on the day?

We start the event at 1.30pm, so try to arrive by 1.15pm.

The afternoon’s format is pretty simple: you will spend some time hearing from guests with interesting stories that you can learn from, and you will also spend some time in small groups discussing your journey with like-minded agency leaders.

The event is hosted by an Agency Hackers facilitator who makes sure that everybody with something interesting to say gets heard. (We poll attendees before the event, so we know who to “pick on” on the day.)

We will serve tea, coffee and sweet-toothed things to keep you going, but please eat a sandwich before you arrive. The schedule doesn’t leave us time to serve lunch, unfortunately.

Q: Who will I hear from? Who are the speakers?

The people you’ll hear from are the actual guests at the event.

We decide who to spotlight based on the information we capture in the weeks before. (Look out for our emails!)

We will publish the line-up a few weeks before, but mostly we hope that you will trust us to select interesting folk from our audience. We find that the people who choose to attend our events are overwhelmingly on fascinating journeys that will resonate with you.

Also, the “talks” aren’t really linear presentations. They’re more like structured case studies, with lots of questions and reflections from the audience.

You could potentially call them “fireside chats”, but these are not rambling cosy conversations. They are planned and structured . We put a lot of work into researching our guests, out of respect for your time.

Q: Who can attend?

This event is only for people who own or run an eCommerce agency.

Why? Well, the event only works if everybody broadly shares the same pains and challenges, so for that reason we ask that only the person invited attends. Sorry!

Q: Who is Channable?

We are proud to partner with Channable for this event. Channable helps eCommerce agencies easily manage shopping feeds, increase sales, and boost ROI – all from one platform. Manage thousands of ads, launch ad campaigns at scale, and integrate with thousands of channels and marketplaces – seamlessly and securely.
