The Leeds team has created an innovative AI solution for skincare client

A Leeds-based creative production agency, Northern Artillery, has completed a pioneering digital solution for its worldwide skincare brand client, The INKEY List.

Bringing next-generation medical expert recommended tech direct to millions of customers across the globe, The INKEY List’s new Acne Analyzer Pro uses advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) facial scanners to deliver a comprehensive personalised experience for those suffering with skin breakouts.

  • The Vue.js web application has been developed in-house by Northern Artillery’s technical team and mounted onto The INKEY List’s ecomm platform of choice, Shopify.

Designed to provide users with personalised skincare insights and product recommendations, the new functionality harnesses the power of AI to detect breakout activity and twins it with medical expert approved skin indicators powered by revieve.com, a leading beauty and wellness platform, which helps identify skin and breakout types. 

The system delivers an intuitive user experience with personalised product recommendations and in-depth data visualisations, all of which aid customers in quickly gaining the very best treatment for their particular skin requirements.

Amongst the most technically innovative aspects of Northern Artillery’s solution are a bespoke camera feed which utilises advanced client-side validation techniques and state-of-the-art machine learning facial models to secure optimal image capture as well as a detailed analysis results page presented through HTML5 canvas facial mapping. These high-intensity areas of work have been married to a custom SDK and API integration with Revieve and The INKEY List’s data warehouse to fully leverage AI capabilities.

The Northern Artillery team also included the creation of an all-new landing page specific to Acne Analyzer Pro and a personalised questionnaire which is used to enable precise skincare analysis – the results from which integrate with The INKEY List’s product matrix to provide customers with the industry’s most highly-personalised ingredient-led skincare recommendations.

The application is expected to evolve further in the near future, with upcoming features set to include a progress tracker within the customer account area to further enhance user engagement and satisfaction.
