It’s easy to assume a competitive salary is the most important factor when attracting and retaining top agency talent.
But Billy Johnson, CEO and co-founder of The Ink Group, understands the weight employee benefits hold.
“There are certain benefits that are perceived to be extremely high value, even if they don’t cost much. It’s about finding those things that employees really care about.”
In this session with Billy, we’ll discuss:
- Being competitive vs. going the extra mile. Billy advises on the three tiers of benefits: the’ must-dos,’ ‘should-dos,’ and ‘could-dos.’ It’s crucial to make sure you’re doing the legal minimum, but are you on par with the industry, and what else could you do to really make an impact?
- How to implement a tailored approach to benefits. “Demographics are crucial – what works for one workforce might be completely irrelevant to another,” explains Billy. Understanding your employee’s needs and pain points is essential to offering the right benefits package.
- The importance of mental health and healthcare. “Mental health, especially among the younger demographic, is without a doubt the biggest issue we’re seeing right now.”
- How to balance cost and effectiveness. “Budget conversations are crucial – once you’ve allocated a big chunk to pensions, there’s not always much left for anything else. Some businesses can afford to do everything really well – nice office, great benefits, career progression – but most have a limited budget and need to work out the best way to spend it.”
- How to communicate your benefits to your team. “Engaging your workforce with what’s included in their benefits package is vital to ensure engagement and interest. There’s no point having a great set of benefits and then not communicating them effectively. This could be through a benefits booklet, total rewards statement, quarterly newsletters or a benefits calendar. It might be that your mix is correct, but what’s missing is the comms.”
If you’re looking to attract new talent and retain current employees but struggling to decide upon the right benefits for your agency, this is a must-attend session. Billy will guide you through the steps to create a compliant, competitive, and tailored package.
